Date of deals

Hubby and I had a date day with a certain theme – use as many of our discount deals as possible!

First stopSIR Barbershop
Ok, so this obviously wasn’t a stop for me but hubby was looking for a fresh hairstyle so I got him the SIR Barbershop’s deal on Teambuy.ca. $17 for a hairstyle, shampoo, scalp massage and a hot towel steam – a great deal for $17. But after seeing the finished product (hubby’s haircut), I’d say the regular price of $40 is well worth it.

Second stop - Afternoon Tea at the Castle

Next we used our Dealfind voucher – $36 for Afternoon Tea for two at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Petit sandwiches, pastries, house-made scones and fresh strawberries with Devonshire cream were served on an ornate three-tiered platter. I had Fairmont’s Lavender Earl Grey tea which was absolutely lovely with light lavender notes to the balanced Earl Grey tea. The flavourful sandwiches were great with the croissant sandwich with ham and brie as my particular favourite. The sweets were a tad too sweet. My usual favourite lemon tart had an immensely sweet meringue topping and the chocolate cupcake’s pink icing was also too sweet. The highlight of the meal was definitely the warm and perfectly baked raisin scones. Topped with the sweet and light Devonshire cream and jam, the scone demonstrates why it is an afternoon tea staple! Our overall experience at the Fairmont was quite enjoyable. Service was friendly and attentive and I loved the old world character of the 900 West lounge with the lovely Victorian furniture.

Good deed in the afternoon
A cause very important to me, hubby and I visited the Canadian Blood Services office to make our regular-scheduled blood donation.

Fried Chicken Fridays
Date night at Refuel means it’s Fried Chicken Fridays!

The chicken didn’t disappoint with the crispy skin on the outside and the amazingly juicy meat on the inside. We also had the tasty bbq dry ribs and the fresh seared foie gras on brioche toast. Each dish was as usual impeccably prepared and full of flavour. Service was friendly with servers stopping by to make sure our needs were being met.
Savings from Refuel: none – but our wallets weren’t complaining!

Final stop – Rest those tired feet
Our final stop of the day. We capped off our date day at the Sole Spa with vouchers purchased from Vitamin Daily. $20 for a 50 minute footy massage was the perfect way to end the night to massage away all that work from saving some money, feeding our tummies..and spending some quality time together.
Savings from the Sole Spa: $40
